First crying bride of Spring

May 16th, 2012 by admin

Ah, spring is definitely in the air. This weekend I saw a woman in a wedding dress, sobbing on the steps of the local church. Thankfully someone (mother I think)  came to comfort her and it turned out they were tears of joy. The emotions had overwhelmed her and she was crying because she was just so happy that everyone was there together for her wedding. The groom came out to see what was going on and seeing her tears he broke down too. then the mother broke and I had to walk on because I felt myself welling up too.

I hope they have a long happy marriage with plenty of mansize boxes of tissues.

Dressing Up – alternative wedding dresses

A wedding is a great excuse to dress up, but if you are not into the traditional ‘dress and tails’ thing, don’t let that stop you. Have some fun instead.

Why not go seriously 19th century gothic?

Another great wedding car choice

Thinking about the choice of car for a wedding my mind went back to our choice when the missus and I tied the knot. It was an Austin Windsor.

Austin Windsor

The colour of the car perfectly matched her dress and the spluttering coughing grinding noises from the gearbox perfectly matched my nervous mood.  Actually, the gearbox was so alarming I was seriously worried she was about to break down (the car, not the missus) and so if you are thinking of using a vintage car, make sure you get a test drive at least  a week before your big day to ensure the car isn’t on its last legs. Just listen to the car and if the noises it makes scare the living bejeesus out of you, look for a different motor for your wedding day drive.

Special car for a special day

Aston Martin convertableFor millions of prospective couples, the choice of vehicle for getting from ceremony to reception was made easier on 29th April 20011 when Prince William drove his new wife in his father’s Aston Martin from Buckingham Palace, down the Mall  to Clarence House.

So, a blue convertible 1950s Aston Martin is good enough for royalty. Clearly then, it is good enough for anyone. Aston Martin cars have always been synonymous with ‘cool’, having been the ‘James Bond Car’ on many occassions, but now also being the ‘royal wedding car’ has added another layer of gloss to an already gleaming brand.
